Chee Woo, MD
Chief Clinical Director
Dr. Woo earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his fellowship in Pain Management at University of Virginia and his anesthesiology residency at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Woo is board certified in pain management and anesthesiology.
Dr. Woo understands that every patient’s pain is different and patients can have very different responses to the same treatment method. Therefore Dr. Woo is committed to offering the right treatment for the right patient. He specializes in providing numerous treatment options in traditional medicine with the added benefit of advanced techniques. These include medication management, epidural injections, and nerve blocks to name a few.
Venk Sundararajan, MD
Executive Vice President
Dr. Sundararajan is the Executive Vice President of Center for Interventional Pain & Spine and the Medical Director of our Abington division, received his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his residency, where he was Chief Resident at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Pennsylvania. DrSundararajan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Sundararajan offers help and hope to those who experience pain relating to headaches, back and neck pain, shingles, fibgromyalgia, industrial and accidental injuries, and pain arising from fractured vertebrae. He believes that through education and discussion, the patient is able to become an active member in their treatment, which ultimately leads to better outcomes.
Dr. Sundararajan is the Executive Vice President of Center for Interventional Pain & Spine and the Medical Director, Abington Division.

Philip Kim, MD
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Kim began his career at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in pain management at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and is board certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology. His multiple society membershipsinclude the International Association for the Study of Pain, International Spine Injection Society, American Academy of Pain Medicine, and North American Neuromodulation Society.He is highly recognized for his specialty in neuromodulation therapies and intrathecal drug delivery systems. Dr. Kim is passionate about interventional approaches to
pain management and increasing the quality of life for his patients. He is committed to offering patients options when they feel they have exhausted many of them.
Dr. Kim is the Chief Executive officer and founding member of Center for Interventional Pain &Spine, the Medical Representative for the Controlled Substance Advisory Committee of Delaware and a member of the Delaware Prescription Drug Action Committee.
In October 2016, Dr. Kim was recognized as one of 2016’s Top Doctors by Main Line Magazine.

Melody Hu, MD
Dr. Hu is a board-certified interventional anesthesiologist with additional subspecialty board certification in the field of pain management. Dr. Hu obtained her accelerated B.S./M.D. degree from the Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed her anesthesiology training and pain management fellowship at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. She currently serves as the Medical Director at the Pain Management Institute of Limerick and is one of the few female interventional pain specialists in the region. Dr. Hu specializes in treating chronic pain that develops over time from degeneration of the spine, as well as acute pain that occurs as a result of work injury or accident. In addition to medication management, Dr. Hu specializes in using minimally invasive techniques to reduce pain and restore function.
Michael Fishman, MD
Director of CIPS Research
Dr. Michael Fishman, MD is a double board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine specialist. He graduated from Jefferson Medical College and went on to train in Anesthesiology at Yale University and in Pain Medicine at Stanford University.
Dr. Fishman takes a comprehensive approach to pain management, utilizing medications, interventions, as well as complementary/alternative medicine approaches to achieve functional restoration in his patients.
Dr. Fishman has a particular interest in the use of spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, and dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation in the treatment of neuropathic pain. Dr. Fishman is actively involved with neuromodulation research and is on the cutting edge of new treatments for pain. He is actively involved in the North American Neuromodulation Society, where he serves as director of the Residents and Fellows Section and as course director for preconference workshops. In this capacity, he is at the helm of the largest neuromodulation training course in the world.
Dr. Fishman thinks ‘outside the box’ to create individualized treatment plans for his patients.
Maryum Rafique, DO
Maryum Rafique, DO is a board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician who completed her internship at Christiana Care Hospital and residency at MossRehab/Temple University Hospital. She further completed a fellowship in interventional spine and pain management at Performance Spine and Sports Physicians in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Dr. Rafique takes a multi-faceted approach to treat pain emphasizing on compassion and ethics utilizing minimally invasive procedures, medication management and a comprehensive physical therapy program. She is familiar with the challenging issues that her patients and families face and works with the entire team to help maximize functional and emotional progress. Dr.Rafique enjoys working at Center for Interventional Pain and Spine and seeing her patients improve their quality of life.
Justin Winas, DO
Anesthesia Pain Management
Dr. Justin S. Winas D.O. is an Anesthesia Pain Management physician who has been serving the Bucks and Montgomery County region for greater than nine years. After attending the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and graduating with honors in 2003, Dr. Winas completed a transitional year at Mercy Catholic Medical Center (MCMC) where he received the Transitional Resident of the Year Award in 2004. Upon completion of his transitional year, he attended Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for a residency in Anesthesia. Dr. Winas again was named the resident of the year and was elected by both faculty and fellow residents to serve as Chief Resident for the year 2007. He ultimately completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He currently practices Pain Medicine in the Montgomery and Bucks County regions. Dr. Winas’ responsibilities to the community include delivering high quality, cutting edge care in the field of pain medicine to the Philadelphia area and its surrounding suburbs.
Dr. Winas has been married to his wife, Stacey, for the past 16 years. He is a proud father of four children. He has been involved with local schools and his community where he has served as part of the medical staff for the annual 6th grade camping trip and has assisted in coaching his children’s little league baseball teams. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, fishing, and boating on the Chesapeake Bay with his friends and family.
Daniel Nasr, MD
Dr. Nasr was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, after which he moved to Philadelphia to attend Jefferson Medical College (now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College). At Jefferson, Dr. Nasr earned his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2004. After an internship in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Medical Center, Dr. Nasr completed a residency in Anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He was elected Chief Resident for the 2007-08 academic year. Dr. Nasr then completed his Fellowship training in Pain Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2009. Since 2009, Dr. Nasr has practiced Pain Medicine in both academic and private practice settings in the Philadelphia area, and he finds great satisfaction improving the quality of life of his patients.
Dr. Nasr has been married to his wife, Kate, for more than 12 years and is a proud father of his 8 year old daughter, with another due in early 2018. Outside of work he remains busy running to his daughter’s soccer and basketball games and practices. His other passion is the game of golf, where he regularly tries to break the chains of amateur mediocrity.
Michelle Caporaletti, DO
Dr. Caporaletti was born in Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey, where she was raised since the age of 5. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. She went on to receive her medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA in 2004. She completed a traditional internship at Frankford Hospital (now Aria-Jefferson Health) in Bucks County. She moved to Pittsburgh, PA, where she finished her Anesthesiology residency at Western Pennsylvania Hospital and Allegheny Health in 2008. She remained at that institution to complete a pain management fellowship in 2009. After graduation, she moved back to eastern Pennsylvania and has been compassionately caring for pain patients in the Bucks and Montgomery counties since 2009.
Dr. Caporaletti has been married for the last 13 years to her husband, Jason. She is the proud mother of 3 girls. They keep her very busy when she is at home. They are active in swimming, gymnastics, cheerleading, basketball, jump rope and softball. When she is not attending sports related events, she is volunteering for school events and field trips. When she has some down time, she enjoys working out, cooking and reading the bible. She is very passionate about her church, where she and her family attend regularly.
Alexander L. Matz, M.D.
Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Fellowship Trained in Pain Medicine
Dr. Matz is an anesthesiologist who is fellowship trained in pain medicine and specializes in interventional pain management. He has a wide range on experience in performing minimally invasive interventional pain techniques that can treat patient’s musculoskeletal, neuropathic and visceral pain.
He has extensive training at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He completed his pain management training at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Matz has published peer reviewed articles in Orthopedics, and has pursued research on the effects of Ketamine of chronic pain and enhancing interventional techniques such as Celiac plexus block for abdominal pain. Member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, the North American Neuromodulation Society, as well as American Society of Anesthesiology
Terence Duffy, MD
Dr. Duffy is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician who has been practicing since 1990. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, and Internal Medicine. His residency in PM&R was completed at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. where he was Chief Resident. Internal Medicine residency was completed at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, Darby, PA.
Dr. Duffy has extensive experience in treating conditions involving nerve and musculoskeletal pain. A great deal of his previous practice involved comprehensive Inpatient rehabilitation of spine disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, joint replacement, spinal cord injury, and degenerative neurological conditions (Multiple Sclerosis, Neuropathy, Parkinson’s Disesase, and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Dr. Duffy has served as Medical Director of the Gunderson Rehabilitation Center at the Greater Hazleton Health Alliance and Program Director of the Acquired Brain Injury Program at the John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation in Wilkes Barre, PA.
Dr. Duffy’s outpatient practice has consisted of treatment and evaluation of patients with neuromusculoskeletal pain, EMG testing, and interventional pain procedures (Epidural steroid injections, facet joint treatments, joint injections, intrathecal drug therapies, spinal cord stimulation, and Botox therapy for headaches and spasticity.
Nidhi Agrawal, MD
Dr. Nidhi Agrawal, MD is an Anesthesiologist and Interventional Pain Medicine physician. She earned her medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University and went on to complete Anesthesiology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Interventional Pain fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Agrawal specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of pain conditions including spine and joint pain, headaches, abdominal and pelvic pain, CRPS, and cancer related pain. She uses a multimodal approach in treating pain which includes use of medications, interventional procedures (injections, radiofrequency ablation, nerve stimulation), and lifestyle modifications to provide personalized care. Dr. Agrawal believes that actively involving and educating patients on their treatment plans is instrumental in helping them meet their individual goals and needs. She is excited about the newer advances in Pain Medicine including neuromodulation and regenerative therapies that allow us to better treat the source of pain and help restore function and quality of life for patients.
Sriniketh Sundar, DO
Dr. Sundar is an anesthesiologist and interventional pain management physician. He attended a combined seven year BS/DO program at the New York Institute of Technology and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. After graduating he worked as a research assistant in head and neck cancer and airway disease at SUNY Downstate University in Brooklyn, NY. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West hospitals. He then completed his fellowship in interventional pain management at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY.
Nilima Patel, PA-C
Nilima Patel was born and raised in Delaware. She received her Bachelor of Health Science along with her MPA (Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPA) from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2017. While receiving her MPA, Nilima was given the opportunity to practice in a various scopes of medicine including primary care, internal medicine, emergency medicine and surgery. Following graduation, Nilima joined us in 2017 after moving back to Delaware. Nilima believes the PA profession is a perfect match for her as it allows her to increase access to patient care by extending the care physicians provide. Nilima approaches medicine through her belief that there is not one way to treat pain, that is right for every patient. She carefully assess an individuals pain to create a treatment plan that is unique to their needs. She believes in a multidisciplinary approach which utilizes many of the interventional pain treatments we offer along with utilizing the expertise of many different specialists to provide the best patient care.
Brad Boyer, PA
Brad Boyer was born and raised in Western PA. Brad received his bachelors in Health Sciences from Saint Francis University and continued his education there to earn his Masters in Physician Assistant Sciences. During his MPA he was named on Deans List and Who’s who among American colleges and universities. During Brad’s time in graduate school, he gained valuable experience in medical fields ranging from primary care, emergency medicine, surgery, orthopedics. Brad joined CIPS after spending nearly a decade practicing in the Emergency Department. He focuses on educating his patients and helping them to have a more active, functional lifestyle through a multidisciplinary approach.
Bridget Gallaher, PA
Bridget Gallaher was born in New Jersey and raised along the Jersey Shore. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Spanish from the University of Scranton, where she was a member of the women’s lacrosse team. Bridget continued her education at Salus University where she received her Masters in Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies in October 2018 and was the recipient of the Clinical Excellence Award. During Bridget’s time in graduate school, she gained valuable experience in medical fields ranging from primary care, emergency medicine, surgery, dermatology and cardiology. Bridget is passionate about helping others, and the PA profession allows her to serve her patients by listening, educating, treating and continuing care. She emphasizes the importance of attention to mental health and overall well-being when attending to a patient’s pain. She believes in working with the patient on an achievable treatment goal together, allowing the patient to have expectations representative of that mutual goal.
Bridget currently resides in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and is engaged to be married to her fiancé James in May 2020! Outside of work, Bridget enjoys cooking, reading and exercise.
Will Stern, PA-C
Will Stern was born and raised in Delaware County before moving to Allentown, PA. He graduated with a BS in Biology from Lafayette College in Easton, PA before moving back to the Philadelphia area for his Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Salus University in Elkins Park, PA. While obtaining his Master’s Degree Will gained experience practicing in a variety of settings including orthopedic surgery, spinal surgery, family medicine, emergency medicine, and general surgery. Will also served as a student representative for the American Academy of Physician Assistants while attending Salus University. Will believes in treating the whole person and working collaboratively with every member of the care team – especially the patient – to find treatment plans that are uniquely tailored to each individual. Will strives to increase access to care and form trusting, informative relationships with patients so that they obtain the care they need and deserve.
Will lives in Philadelphia and has been a devout Philadelphia sports fan for his entire life. His other interests include writing music, reading, and playing basketball with friends.
Amy Powell, PA-C
Amy was born and raised in West Chester, PA. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with her B.S. in Athletic Training, which is what peaked her interest in the musculoskeletal system. She went on to become a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the women’s volleyball team at the University of South Florida in Tampa, while obtaining a Masters degree in Sports Medicine. Amy obtained her second Masters degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Salus University. While at Salus, she had the opportunity to practice in a variety of clinical settings, including emergency medicine, sports medicine, and reconstructive plastic surgery. Upon graduating in October 2017, she promptly went on to work as a surgical first-assist in the orthopedic trauma setting for 2 years.
Amy is trained in joint injections, and takes pride in making each patient experience as seamless and comfortable as possible while providing top-notch service. She believes in a multi-dimensional approach to managing pain, and getting to the bottom of the cause. She is passionate about educating patients on their healthcare plan and making sure they understand the reasoning behind each treatment plan recommendation.
Amy enjoys traveling and living an active lifestyle to include lifting weights, hiking, and walking her dog, Wayne.
Meaghan Descher, NP
Meaghan is a dedicated adult nurse practitioner with more than 15 years of healthcare experience. She has a background in geriatric care, orthopedic, wound care, medical-surgical care, and adult medicine. Her approach to care is comprehensive and she is committed to providing high quality health care especially to the geriatric populations. She believes in forging relations with her patients to help understand their health needs and goals and work collaboratively with each individual to develop a plan of care that helps the patient achieve his/her health goals. She strives to teach and educate patients about their plan of care, medical management, and procedures. Meaghan has been married for 12 years and has 3 very active children and a dog that keep her busy outside of work. She enjoys camping, hiking, and outdoor activities with her family.
Karen Viggiano, CRNP
Karen grew up in eastern North Carolina and moved to central Pennsylvania after completing undergraduate work in business administration at Meredith College. She earned her MBA at Penn State in 1995. She began her medical career when she became a registered nurse in 2010 while living in Georgetown, Texas. She went on to get her Master’s of Science in Nursing at Simmons College in Boston, MA. Her nursing experience includes medical-surgical, orthopedics, emergency medicine, outpatient surgery and adult medicine. Karen strives to work collaboratively with patients and their families, as well as the other members of the medical care team, in order to develop a plan of care that will provide patients with improved quality of life. She believes in educating patients so that they can make informed decisions about their health care.
Karen is the proud mother of a son who is currently enrolled in a musical theater program at Rider University. She married her husband in Positano, Italy, in 2018. She lives outside of Reading, PA, and in her free time enjoys travel, theater, music, and movies.
Austin Becker, DC
Austin Becker, DC is Director of our Myofascial Pain Division at Center for Interventional Pain & Spine. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. Dr. Becker and his wife then moved to Port Orange, FL to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic where he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Becker approaches each patient with a multi-faceted treatment plan consisting of many different possible modalities. These treatments may include myofascial release, trigger point therapy, manual manipulation, therapeutic exercise, spinal decompression and other modalities. Each treatment plan is specialized for each patient’s musculoskeletal condition. He emphasizes this integrated approach to healthcare and encourages each patient be active in their involvement in order to achieve the greatest improvements and highest quality of life.
Dr. Becker was born and raised in Delaware and is happy to have settled back home. He and his wife are proud parents of two beautiful girls and have one rescue dog. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, trips to the Delaware beaches and living an active and healthy lifestyle.
Stephen McCann, NP
Stephen has deep roots in Delaware. He was born and raised in Claymont and now resides in Bear with his wife and daughter. He graduated from the University of Delaware’s Accelerated Nursing Program in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and served his local community in the critical care setting for 10 years. His critical care experience ranges from trauma, pediatrics, cardiac, and neuroscience, which gives him a unique perspective on healthcare. Stephen earned his Nurse Practitioner degree from Wilmington University and is now focused on helping his community achieve the highest quality of life possible, one patient at a time. He will always take the extra moment to listen and work with his patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Stephen enjoys riding mountain bikes, working on cars, and spending time with his family. Most of his free time is spent in Delaware’s state parks, enjoying their extensive trail systems.
